Short Overview
ETHIBOND EXCEL™ Suture is a sterile, coated, braided, synthetic, non-absorbable surgical suture composed of poly (ethylene terephthalate). The suture is coated with polybutilate which acts as a lubricant to mechanically improve the ease of passage through tissue and the overall handling qualities of the suture. ETHIBOND EXCEL™ Suture is available white (undyed) and dyed green with D&C Green #6 (Color Index No. 61565) to enhance visibility in the surgical field. ETHIBOND EXCEL™ Suture is available in a range of gauge sizes and lengths, non-needled or attached to needles of various types and sizes, and in presentations as described in the HOW SUPPLIED section. ETHIBOND EXCEL™ Suture complies with the requirements of the European Pharmacopoeia (Ph. Eur.) for Sterile Poly (ethylene terephthalate) Suture and the United States Pharmacopeia (USP) for Non-Absorbable Surgical Suture except for a slight oversize in gauge size 6-0 (metric 0.7) (maximum oversize 0.024 mm).
