Short Overview

VICRYL™ Suture is a sterile, coated/uncoated, braided/monofilament, synthetic, absorbable, surgical suture composed of ≥ 87.8 weight percent Polyglactin 910, a copolymer made of 90 weight percent glycolide and 10 weight percent L-lactide.
VICRYL™ Suture is available as a coated, braided suture; some sizes are also available as uncoated braided suture (size 9-0) and as an uncoated monofilament suture (sizes 9-0 and 10-0).
VICRYL™ Suture has a coating with up to 12.0 weight percent of a mixture composed of approximately equal parts of calcium stearate and Polyglactin 370, a copolymer composed of 30 weight percent glycolide and 70 weight percent lactide. Polyglactin 910 copolymer and Polyglactin 370 with calcium stearate have been found to be nonantigenic, nonpyrogenic and elicits only a slight tissue reaction during absorption.
VICRYL™ Suture is available undyed and dyed with up to 0.20 weight percent D&C Violet No. 2 (Color Index 60725) to enhance visibility in the surgical field.

VICRYL™ Suture is intended for use only by healthcare professionals who are trained in surgical suturing techniques.
Clinical benefits expected from soft tissue approximation and/or ligation are to promote wound healing by primary intention and to avoid bleeding from vessels during and after surgical procedure.
